Cassiel Knight Interview

1. Why didn’t you become a policeman instead of a writer?
Because I would have wanted to shoot all the bad guys. Seriously, though, when I was in high school, I truly considered becoming a cop. But I really don’t know why I didn’t. I do remember, interestingly enough, telling my BFF at the time (she was in that class too) that I wouldn’t make a good cop because I’d want to shoot the bad guys instead of arrest them. Especially the ones who abused animals. I still feel that way.

2. If you could only tell one story in your life, what would it be?
A space opera as wonderful and compelling as Firefly. Not only are the characters amazingly intricate and interesting, the stories themselves are wonderful—perfect blends of action, adventure, thrills, chills and humor.

3. Apples or pears?
Neither? Okay, if I have to pick one it would be apples. I like pears but IN things, not on their own. I’ve never really had a pear that made me sit up and go, wow, this is a fabulous pear. On the other hands, I’ve had a lot of great apples. But I’d rather have an orange.

4. Which of your own characters would you like to meet and why?
Mia from Blood on the Moon. She’s my ode to Lara Croft in Tomb Raider and I’ve made Mia everything I would have loved to be—everything I’m not.

5. How would you like the world to end?
An asteroid hitting us with no warning. I don’t want to know it’s coming and I want to go right away. I don’t think I’d be a good survivor.

6. Which genre do you wish you could write, and why?
Erotica. Simply because it’s hugely popular and those who write it and do it well make lots of money. I wouldn’t mind making lots of money. But alas, I just can’t do it so I’ll stick to writing my stories and being happy about what I’m doing whether or not the money comes.

7. You’re stuck on an island with only three things: A knife, a match and a stick. What would you do to survive?
I honestly don’t know. As I noted above, I don’t think I’d make a very good survivor so it’s possible I’d use the knife in a not so good way. But then, who knows what one will do in that situation? I can’t even begin to guess.

8. Which of the following would you rather have stalking you through the night: A vampire, a werewolf, or Stephen King?
Oh Stephen King for sure. Love him and his wicked wicked imagination. Of course, I’d let him catch me so I can talk to him.

9. Who is the best villain you’ve ever read, and why?
Well, I don’t tend to read stories that have hard core villains but I guess if I have to pick one, I think it would be Angel from Steve Alten’s Megaladon stories. She is one nasty creature and to me, very terrifying. Yet, on the other hand, she’s an animal so I understand her being ruled by her instincts. Still, she gives me the creeps. I’m not a fan of sharks anyway so imagine a 70-foot shark and yeah, the terror scale is off the charts.
